We love the view from the 6-foot bed, and Ernie loves the five-minute recliner. The room has a retro telephone and gives it a nice touch.
The luxurious bathroom is a delight to spend time with retro lighting, letterbox tiles and stylish wooden blinds. The roller shower was amazing and the rainforest shower was just what we needed to wake us up in the morning. I love Cole & Lewis toiletries as well as robes and slippers.
Excellent. We visited in January when the restaurant was trying out vegan dishes for vegans, but the menu still had plenty for meat eaters. All in all I’d say this is a classic pub band sourced as locally as possible. Think liver, bacon and extra-large Sunday roasts.
Breakfast is also a good deal with a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and pastries. The baked version gets a fancy twist with smashed avocado on toast sitting alongside a traditional full English.

With over 140 miles of trails and hiking trails in the New Forest, you’ll be spoiled for choice. But be aware that ponies, donkeys, cows and deer roam freely, so be sure to keep your dog on a lead. I thought I had to look for wildlife, but they appear everywhere! We even saw a donkey biting someone’s garden fence.
During the winter months there is not much to do in Burleigh (20 minutes walk from White Gardens). But in the summer you can walk the Burley Food Trail. You can sample New Forest cider, homemade fudge and traditional sweets on the 3.5-mile and five-mile routes.
