We love it there and we love the New Hampshire weather in winter, fall and summer. We think it’s a great vacation for dogs! It’s weird because lately we always travel to NH in the winter. Last summer we decided to go there for the cool mountain air and walk our dogs, but between the Canadian wildfires and terrible floods, we weren’t sure we’d make the long trip from Florida.

New Hampshire is a place where the roads can be rough. Locals have very strong walking skills, so what they think is easy may not be for you and your dog! Be careful and wise when choosing hiking trails. And of course, always bring plenty of water for you and your dog!
What I love about Waterville Valley Resort is that they have very long, relatively flat trails for dogs at the resort. It’s actually a ski trail, which is weird, but skiers know that this trail is for both pedestrians and dogs, so we rarely see skiers on it. My husky Izzy absolutely loves walking this trail! On the snow trail he comes to life, and even though he is 14 years old, he looks like a young dog again. We had such a great time!
I can’t wait for it to get there this summer, but for various reasons this summer isn’t looking good. He’s starting to slow down and I’m afraid he won’t be able to walk even the simplest way after this year.

There aren’t many dog friendly hotels around in New Hampshire. Ironically, Waterville Valley Resort allows dogs on resort property and on some trails, but their hotels do not!
There are many apartments around the resort and many owners rent out their spaces, but none of them are pet friendly. There are also several lodges around the property, but only one is pet friendly. It is called a snowy owl. We stayed there a year ago and it was horrible. The location is perfect, you can walk to everything in the resort including the dog run I mentioned above. Glad to see it is now under new ownership so hopefully it will be fixed soon. It looks like the previous owner didn’t spend any money on improvements and we won’t be living there until some changes are made.

For the past few years we have stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, a Marriott hotel near Plymouth, New Hampshire. It’s about 20 minutes from Waterville Valley Ski Resort, but it’s a great location! We love it there.
