Vacation Dog Bumper – What a beautiful day! Reston in Reston, VA tastes so good! We hang out with Tommy McFly (Twitter: @tommymcfly) and MIX 107.3. During the day, Tommy hosted a hula hoop contest. These games usually last 30 seconds to a minute (four kids take part, the one with the last shot wins), but brother and sister pairs also compete! These children persisted for more than five minutes, and one of them fell down! The champion didn’t actually slip, but had to stop. Tommy later admitted to me that this was the longest match he had ever seen on the channel – and the longest match I’d ever seen in my life.
I had no idea Reston had so many different foods and restaurants! For lunch I had two different types of sliders (one with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and some other fancy toppings I didn’t quite understand), sweet potato fries, and for dinner I had two different types of sushi (shrimp tempura) burrata and spicy tuna). And that’s just the tip of the iceberg – there’s pizza, sausage, ice cream, gelato, meatballs, rolls, seafood, wine, beer… so much to choose from. The hardest part about being in front of a Trickster at these events is not getting carried away by the different smells wafting in the air! It’s so hard to tell someone about Trickster and then go get a fresh pizza or burger – and how cruel it is when they’re cooking right next to us!

The poor guy is tied to the bumper like an idiot, but don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere. His owner thought it was great, but if he knew what he was being offered, I don’t think he would agree. I hope he gets at least a treat when he gets home!

We’re going to the Father’s Day car show tomorrow. Even though my dad isn’t particularly interested in cars, it would be nice if he could come over and watch Hustlers – he just retired, so I know he still has a lot of time.

In celebration of the anniversary of the film’s July 29, 1983 release, here are 20 things you probably didn’t know about the original “Holiday.”

1. Anthony Michael Hall, who played Rusty Griswold, was in puberty during filming. This added three inches to the entire production, which is why the entire movie has different heights.
2. The film was written by John Hughes (who also created other ’80s classics like “The Breakfast Club” and “Sixteen Candles”) and is based on his novel “Vacation ’58,” which The novel premiered in National Lampoon in 1979.
3. Filming Vacation required the cast and crew to take a real-life road trip. The film was shot in more than 15 locations across four states.
4. “Holiday” is the only R-rated movie in the series. In the film’s DVD commentary, director Harold Ramis stated that he was concerned that National Lampoon’s comedic style might be too edgy for his directorial style, and that he considered the scenes in “The Holy Land” to be “the most A politically charged scene.” The footage I had shot was all wrong. “

5. During the production of the film, five Hustlers from the Carriage Queen family were used in rotation, each of which was allowed to be modified in different ways to accommodate the wear and tear on the vehicle during Griswold’s journeys
6. In a scene early in the movie, Clark (Chevy Chase) helps Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo) wash the dishes, but he never rinses them or puts them in the dishwasher . Instead, he just wiped them with a rag and put them back in the closet. Chase says this is one of his favorite parts of the movie, but he says most fans don’t notice it.
7. During the family singing scene, Chase realizes that Beverly D’Angelo is actually a great singer. Before going on vacation, he starred in the 1979 musical Hair.
8. In the scene at the gas station where the Clarks are trying to find the gas cap for the crook, Chase doesn’t intend to throw it away when he removes the license plate. The plate flew behind her and almost hit the actress standing at the gas station. The worried look on Chase’s face afterwards was genuine.

9. When production began, Christie Brinkley had just become a superstar in the modeling world, and the studio wanted her to star in the movie. Although she only appeared in a few scenes, she traveled with the cast and crew for much of the filming. Vacation was her film debut, and she later reprized the role in the 1997 sequel Vacation in Las Vegas.
10. Based on a script by Randy Quaid, Cousin Eddie’s signature tongue click was based on a boy he knew in high school and marked every spot in the script where he wanted to add a voice.
12. Imogen Coca, who plays Aunt Edna, was hesitant to take the role because she worried she might not be mean enough. “She was one of the loveliest women in the world,” Chase later said of Coca-Cola. However, producer Marty Simmons convinced Coca to accept the role, assuring her that she was a great actress who could play any role.
13. Chase and James Kitchen, who plays the patrolman, improvised much of the scene, in which the two realize that Clark accidentally killed Aunt Edna’s dog, Dinky, by forgetting to let it walk off the rear bumper. People were clearly trying to stifle their laughter during the performance.

14. Stunt coordinator Dick Zucker made a bet with other cast members that he would make the family con man jump more than 50 feet during the desert scene. Zickel won the bet.
15. Lindsay Buckingham’s movie theme song “Holiday Road” peaked at No. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 due to the film’s popularity.
16. In the scene where Clark and Rusty drink beer, the can is actually empty and the two have to pretend to be shocked.
17. In Hughes’ original script, Clark arrived at Wally World to find the park closed and the Griswolds taking him and his superiors hostage to Roy Wally (Eddie Bly) Ken)’s home. The ending was filmed in its entirety, but was ultimately canceled due to poor response from test audiences. Director Harold Ramis felt that this ending didn’t work because the film was built on the promise of seeing Wally’s world, leaving the audience feeling cheated by the payoff. As a result, the Rams forced Hughes to write an alternate ending in which the Griswold family hijacked the park. In the rewritten scenes, they cast John Candy as Lasky, a security guard at the park who would become the most memorable character in the film. The cast and crew then went back to film the new ending and edit it into the original film. According to Ramis, test marketing was a huge success after the ending was changed.

19. The Wally World parking lot scene was filmed at Santa Anita Raceway in Arcadia, California. Filmed in temperatures over 100 degrees, the scene required actors to run from their cars to the park gates. Hall said he actually tried to beat Chase in the gate battle, but Chase was eight inches ahead at the time.
20. The park scenes were filmed at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. The actors have been on this rollercoaster so many times that the looks of fear and disgust on their faces are real.
