Maine has nearly 3,500 miles of coastline, and it takes more than six hours from Kittery on the New Hampshire border to Bar Harbor outside Acadia National Park.

Maine beaches along the South Coast are popular beaches for Bostonians. Beautiful beaches like Kennebunkport have beautiful homes and hotels. Other areas such as Old Garden Beach offer rides and historic docks for old-fashioned family fun.

Around Portland and Casco Bay, you’ll find beautiful, rocky coastlines dotted with lighthouses and lined with great restaurants, breweries and LL. Top Ben in Freeport.

Some families enjoy a relaxing weekend at one of New Hampshire’s popular lakes, such as Lake Winnipesaukee, but White Mountain is for those who want to work. Families can hike the waterfalls at the Diana Baths, hike the mountains or take a leisurely swim.

Ever since I spent my summer vacation visiting family in Vermont, the Green Mountains hold a special place in my heart as a favorite East Coast family vacation. I truly believe that Vermont offers the best of New England.

You can spend a week on the shores of Lake Champlain at a resort like Basin Harbor, or enjoy the summer fun at one of Vermont’s many mountain ranges like Smuggler’s Notch.

If you want, you can spend the day swimming, hiking, and exploring New England towns like Woodstock, Manchester, and Burlington, or enjoying local Vermont cuisine; Visit craft breweries, sample Vermont cheddar cheese, or spend a day visiting the Ben & Jerry’s factory.

Vermont is so small that you can easily explore it on a weekend or week-long Vermont road trip. The best time to see fall leaves is usually in October if you are planning to visit New England in the fall.

Boston is perfect for history-loving families, and it’s a fun city to explore in the summer. Once you’ve finished exploring the history of the Freedom Trail and visiting the Boston Tea Party Boats and Museum, you can head out to sea for a whale watching cruise or a tour of the Boston Harbor Islands.

Just make sure you take the time to watch the Boston Red Sox if they are in town or visit historic Fenway Stadium. Take free time to take a swan boat ride and visit the bird sculptures at the Boston Commons and Public Gardens.

Just remember that Boston can be expensive, but I have tips for visiting Boston on a budget. If you have a few extra days, you can plan a day trip to Salem, Gloucester and Rockport or Plymouth.

I can’t think of a better family beach than Cape Cod and the islands (Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket) in the summer. Each town has a different character, from the strong state to the sand dunes of Eastham, the charming town of Chatham and some of the best beaches in the East.

You can spend hours playing in the swimming pool, collecting sea shells and watching the sunset over the water. Or, hop on your bike and enjoy the Cape Cod Railroad.

Families can also visit Old Fort Niagara, the Niagara Aquarium and, of course, the Cave of the Winds. It’s easy to go to Niagara Falls on vacation, or you can spend more time and enjoy some unique food and beautiful scenery near Buffalo.
