Seacliff is a hidden gem, just outside the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick and only 40 minutes from Edinburgh and less than two hours from Glasgow, so easily accessible.

A private beach five miles from North Berwick, a paid car park is located on the narrow lane of the A198 at Auldhame.

Dardle Gate Beach in Dorset was voted the number one dog-friendly beach in the UK, closely followed by Man Oar Beach and Three Cliffs Bay in Wales in third place.

Pembrokeshire is home to dog-friendly beaches, including Freshwater West. This wide, sandy and rocky beach is a popular destination for surfers. The sand dunes are popular with visitors.

She plans to meet at Tantallon Castle, a historic Scottish estate near North Berwick in East Lothian. With historic Scottish properties available for free or half price with English Heritage membership, now is a great time to explore.
Tantalon Castle is an estate near North Berwick in East Lothian. It was built in the mid-1300s by William Douglas, whose descendants occupied the castle for the next 300 years. He survived two sieges, but in 1851 a massacre by Oliver Cromwell’s army forced him to resign.
It is far from extinct these days. The stunning mountainside location attracts tourists and a few wedding photos were taken while we were there. I can only imagine how beautiful these pictures are.
Musselburgh Dog Friendly Beach, Scotland
The sites excavated in 2013 and 2014 are also of interest to archaeologists. From Tantalon Castle there are beautiful views of Bass Rock, where seabirds nest. Wild animals can be seen from the castle wall, house martins fly everywhere.
For children, this is the best place to learn. They run on grassy fields, climb towers and play together. At check-in, children are given a bag of things to enjoy during their visit, including toys, a torch and binoculars. This made them active in their environment and allowed us to enjoy the palace together.
After visiting the palace, we decided to go to the beach, which we had been looking at all morning. Dog-friendly Seacliff Beach is just a few minutes’ drive from Tantallon Castle. It was a very quiet Monday afternoon during the summer holidays.
To reach the beach, take a private road with a separate barrier. For £3 you get a small car park a short walk to the beach. The wide stretch of soft sand offers stunning views of Tantalon Castle and Bass Rock.

We spread out picnic blankets on the dry sand and grabbed some food before the kids got to the beach. Although the blue water is cold, it does not kill them. Good company, a historic building and a beach with plenty of places to run are the perfect ingredients for a great family day out.
