If your dog likes a bit of culture, take him to the Newlyn Art Gallery and its sister venue, The Exchange in Penzance. Dogs may sometimes be asked not to visit certain exhibits (think dogs and complex ground-level art installations); However, well-behaved dogs are generally welcome in most areas.

Dog Friendly Cottages In Falmouth

Dogs are allowed on many attractions in Newquay’s Lappa Valley, including train journeys for a small fee. Also close to Newquay, your pup (on a lead) can join you at Healey’s Cyder Farm. Dogs are not allowed in the production areas, but are welcome in other parts of the site, including the restaurant.

We all love a boat trip and salty dogs can hop aboard the Jubilee Queen departing from Padstow. The fresh taste of the sea, the drink from the bar, your partner at your feet… Perfect.

Back on the mainland, your dog can join you at Falmouth’s charming Pendennis Castle. They can even enter most buildings, just make sure they are tied up.

Unusually for a wildlife attraction, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gwick allows dogs as long as they are kept on a lead.

Which beaches in Cornwall allow dogs? Many city beaches allow dogs at certain times of the day and have a year-round “schedule” that can get a little complicated. If you’re unsure, check out Cornwall Council’s guidance on dog beach rules.

Beautiful Bamaluz in St Ives is a popular location and you will always find other friendly pet owners to chat to. Lambeth Walk (at the back of the lifeboat house) is another dog friendly beach in St Ives and at low tide you can enjoy Breakwater Beach together.

Head east on Carbis Bay Road and you will come to beautiful Lelant. Park somewhere in the village and find the road that goes around the church. This leads to Portkin, which is definitely the best place for a sand escape. Just look at the waves and remember that it is not a swimming beach.

On the other side of the Penzance Peninsula, head to locals’ favorite beach, Long Rock. This wide stretch of sand lies between Marazion and Penzance, so as you can imagine, looking out over the sea towards Mount St. Michael is spectacular. There is a small car park above the beach.

Dog Friendly Cornwall Weekend Planner

One of Cornwall’s best family beaches is on the north coast near Padstow. Harlyn Bay is perfect for both dogs and children, with good swimming opportunities, many attractive rock pools and amenities including a car park and cafe. It can also be preserved in summer. Holywell Bay, near Newquay, is another great beach for dogs and children.

Cornwall doesn’t just have beautiful parks, but which ones are dog friendly? Trebah Garden, just outside Falmouth, has long had a reputation for being super dog friendly. These subtropical gardens offer so many ways to explore that you’ll both love. Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, near Penzance, is another popular dog walking spot and, as a real bonus, there is a dog-friendly terrace outside the cafe.

The Eden Project allows dogs in its outdoor areas, but not in the biomes (people can take turns). However, Eden’s outdoor space is large and your dog will love exploring its many trails with you. There are also many outdoor dining options.

Eden’s sister attraction, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, is one of the best places to walk dogs in the area. Keep your pet safe as Heligan is home to wildlife, livestock and poultry.

Unforgettable Boat Trips And Tours

If you and your dog like to take long walks together, choose a stretch of the magnificent South West Coast Path. There is a helpful dog walking page on their website. Godolphin Hill (near Helston), managed by the National Trust, is another favorite spot for a good sniff (Cornish for ‘quick walk’). Please be careful of livestock and keep your dog on a leash.

How about a forest bath?  Cardingham Woods, near Bodmin, is so dog-friendly it even has a self-service dog wash. There is also Bodmin Moor itself, but read the restrictions first as animals graze on the wild layers.

If you want to combine a nice walk with a bit of local history, head to the Porcelain Clay Museum near St Austell. Wheal Martyn has a network of trails and a dog-friendly café.

They will always surprise your dog at Hub St Ives and Moomaid St Ives is another welcoming place in the city. Close to Penzance, the Mexico Inn welcomes leashed dogs in both the bar and restaurant areas and is just a tennis ball away, conveniently located on Long Rock Beach.

In Gwythian, near Hale, the sand garden at Rockpool Beach Cafe is perfect for rabbits. Mousehole Deli & Kitchen is so pet friendly that it even has a dog-friendly menu, including pies.

Across the coast, celebrity chef and renowned dog lover Rick Stein’s St Merryn pub, The Cornish Arms, is a great place to enjoy great food in the company of your furry companion. And really, how can the Launceston Springer Spaniel be dog friendly?
