We went to Davis first, hoping to check out Turner Falls. As soon as we paid the entrance fee, we were so disappointed (ugliness, huge crowd, parking, etc.), that we turned around and went back to our cozy home.
This led us to look for great things in the Chickasaw National Forest with our dog…and we were pleasantly surprised. First, make sure you rent a cozy cabin (we found a great dog-friendly cabin on Airbnb in Sulphur). After settling into your cabin, head up the Bromide Trail for a great view. Then cool off along the Travertine River and finish your evening with a sunset around Lake Arbuckles.
Cliffs, bison, prairie dogs, and a beautiful beach town are all in the Wichita Mountains. Only 1.5 hours from Oklahoma City, this is the perfect weekend for adventure lovers! Start your weekend trip with a hike in The Narrows. It is a 2.7 round trip with beautiful views. There are large rocks that can be difficult for dogs to enter the canyon. We quickly turned around.

Fans of Joanna and Chip Gaining (Fixer Upper) will enjoy a trip to Waco, TX. They created a special place called Magnolia Market in Silos. While you’re here you can shop (with your kid), people watch, eat at gas trucks, get great photos, and watch special events.
