Colorado Springs is just over 1 hour from Denver and makes for a perfect weekend getaway from the big city! You can also fly directly into the Colorado Springs airport, but it can be more expensive (if you have a dog to accompany).
If you’re anything like me, you’ll need to drive a lot to bring your baby… This is a long drive from some of the “nearby” capitals 🙂

Colorado Springs usually has mild temperatures, but it does get a little cold in the winter months. Summer brings hot temperatures and heavy rains. Fall and spring meet with mild temperatures (which I think is perfect!). Of course, there is no bad time to visit Colorado Springs!
When searching for things to do in Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods is the first result. But it’s a good reason.
Garden of the Gods is a 1300 acre park that is very dog friendly. Miles and kilometers of trails for you and your doll to enjoy! 🙂
Tip: The roads around the visitor center can be very busy. If you’re looking for a quieter route, park at the Trading Post and take the route from there. You will still enjoy the park, but away from some of the crowds. Here is a map to help!
Kinship Landing In Colorado Springs: Review And Dog Friendly Itinerary
Well, it’s a tourist stop, but it’s a dog-friendly place. You and your doll can cross the bridge and explore the grounds of the Royal Valley. Stop by the bridge to take a photo with your start badge and admire the gondola that soars above the Grand Canyon (see below).
How heavy is a GONDOLA?! The 1.5 hour drive from Colorado Springs is a must. After crossing the suspension bridge, you and your doll can take a gondola ride across the valley.
Tip: You can take the cable car before or after crossing the bridge. We found that it is a shorter line if you cross the bridge first and take the cable car back.
A hill made for riding! If you don’t have 14 miles to go, get in your car and drive up Pike’s Peak. The trip will take about 2-3 hours, but you will always have a beautiful view.

There will be many stops, photos and picnics along the way. If you’re more adventurous, you can drive to the top and rent a bike to ride down!
Tips: make sure you pack warm clothes to stay cool on top and make sure you have at least 1/2 tank of gas because there are no gas stations .
If you haven’t hiked enough in the Garden of the Gods, there are great other trails to choose from in Colorado Springs. You will not be disappointed with its views of mountains, red rocks and magical forests!
