Well behaved dogs are welcome at the New Park. With miles of footpaths and open heathland, the New Forest is a great place to walk your dog while visiting the area.
Dog activities range from dog walking and cycling to exploring attractions such as Exbury Gardens and Buckler’s Hard. Many beaches in the area also accept pets, as long as they are well behaved. The South Downs Park is great for dog walking, with miles of footpaths and unpaved paths, although dog walkers must always obey the countryside code. Shipwrights Way is a newly-used road that runs through the south of Portsmouth. Visit the East Hampshire and South Downs website for information on walking in the area.
Queen Elizabeth Park, Hampshire’s largest park, is located near Petersfield and comprises 2,000 acres of woodland and downland, all within the South Downs parkland. If there was a dream trip to New England, it would be New Hampshire! When I think of New Hampshire, I think of mountains.
Home to the White Mountain Range (within 800,000 acres of the White Mountain National Forest) that makes up a quarter of the state and 160.9 miles of the Appalachian Trail, there’s no shortage of amazing hikes!
There is so much hiking in NH that there are even two travel lists; NH 48 (48 mountains above 4000 meters) and 52 WAV (52 with views!).
Places To Visit In New England During Summer
The White Mountains, the NH 48 range, and the 52 WAV range have a similar point but all are great climbs in New England.

I have to come to the top of this list to promote New England and the king of them all! The highest mountain in England is 6,288 meters, Mount Washington.
Once you have taken the list of beauty too far you will be able to send it. Mount Washington is far from the other climbs on this list and being able to climb it and say you’ve climbed it is pretty cool!
When It Comes To Summer, Nothing Beats The Northeast
The most popular and well-trodden trails for this bad boy are Tuckerman’s Ravine and Pole Head. I don’t want to do it in the winter, but I’m assuming you’re new to traveling in England and don’t want to climb a really big hill in the coldest months! If so, make sure you do a lot of research as Mount Washington is known for some of the worst weather in the world and the highest wind speeds ever recorded.

This hike deserves a second spot on this list of Best New England Hikes. The Franconia Ridge Trail is probably the most challenging (and difficult) hike on our list.
It takes you 3.1 miles and 2,900 feet of elevation gain to reach Haystack Mountain, but from there you’ll be treated to a stunning panorama for a full mile as you reach the Franconia Ridge.
