It’s a short walk down the hill from the 13th century Holiday Park, which has a great pub. Set behind the dunes of Tra Tobar Naofa, it has everything you could want from a historic beach; A traditional whitewashed stone exterior, exposed beams across the low slung ceiling, lovely beer (summer or winter for brave souls!) and the beauty of the Cornish countryside. Offering many of the classic and questionable drink options you’d expect in a smart country pub collection (Sunday roasts, steak and ale pies, fish and chips, plus burgers, salads and sides), Treguth’s got that on length. You and the hound will be greeted when the box arrives for delicious food! Dog friendly in every part of the pub and for the money, it’s just a lover!

Another village we saw a little earlier was The Smuggler’s Den Inn: a 16th century pub in a beautiful building near and around the town of Cubert. With excellent pub dishes on the menu (including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian dishes), premium real ales and a wide selection of wines from around the world, not to mention a warm opening, Smugglers is hard to beat . .

Now, here’s a bar with a view! Located on the edge of West Pentyre near Crantock Village, this open air restaurant makes for a great setting overlooking the wide white sands of Crantock Beach. Head to The Bougie for homely comfort food and a cold pint of cider, stay for panoramic views of the coast, Pally Jok, Gannel and the stunning sea beyond.
Fun fact: the pub was once a farmhouse and takes its name ‘bougie’ from the Cornish word for ‘goshall’ – the owners grew potatoes in the hill field to build the pub in 1970!
Inn By The Sea
Only dogs are allowed outdoors so be sure to bring your winter clothes if you’re visiting during the winter months! This is a great place if you are on the coast road from Chuan Tobar na Naomh to Cranton. All advance table reservations are recommended.
Crantock Beach is dog friendly all year round, and C-Bay is a great spot. Go here for great ideas and aromatic coffee served with a large slab of bread. A scenic spot for al fresco dining on a sunny day, enjoying stunning sea views and enjoying dog biscuits waiting at the bar, C-Bay is a place to satisfy the whole package. Open daily during peak hours for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please check their website for opening hours during the winter months.
After a walk along the River Gunnell (at low tide) or a run along the river miles at Crantock, return to the village pub for a well-deserved pint or two and a tasty pub platter. Since you are so close to each other, it can be quite a challenge to choose which bar to try first. Dog-friendly indoors and out, it’s the perfect place to escape city life and enjoy delicious pizzas, pies, burgers and fish and chips. If you are looking for a traditional pub with a warm welcome, we recommend eating here, especially after a long journey.
Located in the world famous surfing mecca of Fistral Beach. Warmed by large floor-to-ceiling windows that reflect the waves on the shore below, the Stable is always cozy in warm weather. Fistral Beach is one of the friendliest beaches to visit (your dog is welcome all year round!), but the Stables is extremely dog friendly, meaning you can make a day of boating on the shore and picking up starfish.
