Dog Friendly Near Me Now – If you have pets, you understand why you don’t want to feel like home without them. They truly mean everything to us. I am a dog mom to my beautiful boy Maui who just turned 1 year old. Time really does fly with this sweet boy. While we love spending time at home with him, I’m always on the lookout for places that are dog friendly because Maui loves the outdoors (what dog doesn’t? Hahahaha). This summer, I took Maui to some dog-friendly beaches and I had to share one beach that was different from the rest. Honestly, this dog friendly beach along Maui is now at the top of my list for beach days every year. Pinery Provincial Park Dog Beach, Grand Bend Probably one of the best dog beaches I’ve been to.
I know – I’ve already explained a lot in one line above, but if you’re still not sold, read on to find out why. Here are some of the things I look for when looking for dog friendly beaches and dog beaches in Pinney Provincial Park –

It takes 2 hours 15 minutes to reach this place from the GTA and an additional 30 minutes if you come from Toronto. From where I live it took 1 hour and 45 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all. We generally use rural roads because we want to get a glimpse of the cities on the way.

Pinery Provincial Park is a provincial park on Lake Huron near Grand Bend, southwestern Ontario. The deep blue waters of Lake Huron are beautiful from every part of the shore – from popular Grand Bend Beach to Pinery Provincial Park. I could also see some turquoise colors on this lake and it was very beautiful.
Now all the beaches will be full, but I thought the Pinery Provincial Park beach was definitely better because the beach area is so large that there is plenty of distance between each group on the beach. I loved it! It almost felt like our own private place on the beach.
So the beaches for dogs in this park are Dog Beach 1 and Dog Beach 2. Once you are in the park, you will have to drive a bit to reach these places. This park is also great for walking your dog. There are some beautiful walks there – I didn’t get a chance to see them this time because I spent all my time at the beach, but
I’ve been to a few dog beaches this summer and the worst thing about some of them is how dirty the dog beaches are. Just because it’s a dog beach doesn’t mean we have to have dog poop/algae debris floating in the water, right? Oh well, that’s a nightmare story for another day. Anyway, Pinery Provincial Dog Beach was so clean that I was blown away. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a human beach that was so clean. Haha this was actually my favorite part. Apparently the cleanliness was really top notch. I see us spending all our summers here.

This is the first thing I check when planning beach activities for Maui. Some beaches may contain blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) which can make dogs sick and often fatal. You don’t want to take them to beaches where there is algae-contaminated water. Blue-green algae are not actually algae, but the organisms get their name because they often give the appearance of algae when they aggregate in water. When gathered together, they usually look like green clumps, green clumps, or brown dots in the pond. Therefore, you may not want to take your dog near such beaches.
For this I use a resource called Swim Guide which is updated regularly based on water samples taken at beaches and water quality testing. The water quality at Pinery Provincial Park Dog Beach was good and I like it. They even have an app!
While we’re busy finding dog-friendly beaches, we also have to remember to enjoy our time at the beach. This is sometimes not easy when you go to dog beaches where dog carcasses float. Can you tell I’ve had some bad experiences? Pinari Provincial Park Dog Beach is a dog owner’s dream – clean shores, clear waters and paddling heaven. We paddled and drifted on the lake all day. I didn’t want to go back!
You can see why we chose to spend our time at the beach. If you are a dog owner, don’t miss this amazing beach. It’s really worth the drive and time.
