If you are like me you are willing to drive long distances to take your puppy with you…so here are driving distances to some “nearby” major cities 🙂

Colorado Springs has mild temperatures. But it can get a bit cold during winters. Summer brings hot temperatures. But it also has the highest rainfall. Autumn and spring temperatures are mild. (Perfect in my opinion!) There really is no bad time to visit Colorado Springs!

If you’re looking for things to do in Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods is the number one result. But there is good reason.

Garden of the Gods is a 1,300 acre park that is completely dog ​​friendly. Miles of trails to keep you and your pup entertained!

Tip: The main road to the visitor center can be very busy. If you’re looking for a quieter route, park at the Trading Post and hike the trail from there. You will still have beautiful views of the park. But stay away from some of the crowds. This is a directory to help!

Well, this is a very touristy stop. But it’s a dog-friendly stop. You and your pup can walk across the bridge to the Royal Gorge Park grounds on the bridge to take a photo with your state emblem. And marvel at the gondola floating above the colossal gorge (see below).

How cool are dog-friendly gondolas?! Definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive from Colorado Springs. After crossing the suspension bridge you and your pup can board the gondola for a gondola ride.

Tips:: You can take the gondola before or after crossing the bridge. We found the line much shorter if you cross the bridge first. Then take the gondola back.

A mountain made for riding! If you don’t want to hike the 14 miles, it takes about 2-3 hours to get in your car to the top of Pikes Peak, but you’ll get great views the entire time.

There are many areas to stop, take photos and have a picnic along the way. If you’re feeling extra adventurous you can even book a ride up and rent a bike on the way down!

Tip: Don’t forget to bring warm clothes. Because the top is cooler. And since there is no gas station, prepare at least 1/2 tank of gas.

If you are enough in the Garden of the Gods No hiking trails. Colorado Springs has many other great trails to choose from with views of the mountains, red rocks, and magical forest. You will not be disappointed!
