Another favorite of ours is Tawas Point, just a few more hours along the shores of Lake Huron! This dog beach is one of the only fenced areas in Michigan where dogs can run free in designated areas. The campground is dog friendly, so bring your dog for some summer fun this weekend!

Boathouse Beer Company & The Boozery is another great place to dine on the patio with your pets. It’s in downtown Tawas, has great food and drink, and is right across the street from a small dog friendly park!

When we visited, we stayed at the Staybridge Inn and Suites, which is located downtown. Cabins are big on pet-friendly amenities, and dogs are often entertained for a change from regular camping. Staybridge Inn and Suites is a great hotel to check out in other towns too – we’ve been there a few times on the road and it’s always fun!

Hike to one of the many waterfalls in the area, and if you’re brave, jump into Dead River Falls. If you’re looking for a view of the lake from the top, check out Sugarloaf Mountain or Hogback Mountain.

After a day of walking, check out the dog-friendly Ore Dock Brewery. They have several types of beer in house and when we visited last year they had an amazing sell out too! If you’re lucky, you’ll catch Dia de los Tacos parked outside – these tacos are so good, we drive this food truck anywhere during the day!

Join a wine tasting day and bring your dog to our favorite spots like Marie Vineyards, Left Foot Charlie and Bonobo, all of which welcome canine guests!
