Another great area near Lake Wallenpaupack is the Shuman Point Natural Area. Dogs on a leash are welcome to accompany you on this 3-kilometer route. All skill levels are welcome and the trail offers visitors beautiful views of the lake as well as the forested landscape. After walking about 2 kilometers, you will find a stone wall that used to serve as a fence to separate farmers’ fields.

Leashed dogs can join their owners along the park’s Little Falls Trail. The 1.4-mile trail follows Wallenpaupack Creek and passes a small waterfall that bears the trail’s name.

Ledgedale Recreation Area in Greentown, PA offers hikers a 35-acre park and an 80-acre natural area. You and your dog will enjoy a nature trail that follows an old logging road used in the 1920s.

There are beautiful trees to see, lots of wildlife and lots of bird watching. This beautiful area is located just 15 miles south of Hawley, making it perfect for a day trip.
