Cambridge, Ohio is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in southeastern Ohio in Guernsey County. This small town of around 13,000 people is a perfect place to explore.
Our first stop was lunch at McKenna’s Market in downtown Cambridge. This dog-friendly restaurant offers outdoor seating and we stayed warm and dry in the sun, even in March. This family market is owned by the McKenna family, who have run delicatessen and market businesses since the 1970s. The family renovated the century-old historic building, which soon became a dining destination. McKenna’s Market is known for delicious house subs and salads; We knew we were in for an extraordinary experience.
The menu is extensive and offers a variety of meals for all tastes. Chris ordered the Shrimp Basket and went with the Fiesta Chicken Salad. Hot coffee for us and the dogs. They were welcomed with fresh water and dog toys.
People would come up to us and talk to us while we drank coffee. Pity the dogs. They are very successful and everyone is so friendly and sociable. McKenna’s front door had people coming and going all lunch. They have a jumping business. When the food arrived, I realized why. The food was amazing.

When I travel I try to order food other than the usual fare and I’m usually satisfied. The Fiesta Salad is the bomb! very fresh, colorful and full of flavor. I tried it and my stomach was very happy. Chris’s Shrimp and Chips is warm and cozy. She said it was cooked to perfection.
After lunch we went to McKenna’s Market. snacks, fruits, sweets, delicious cheese; artisanal meats and local foods; Fresh coffee; old fashioned soda; Full of wines and more. I asked two of his famous employees to dine with a bag of freshly brewed coffee.
It is fun to drive around the city and see the unique sculptures, We were not disappointed. Cambridge is also home to former astronaut and US Senator John Glenn. We didn’t get to visit the John & Annie Glenn Museum with the dogs, but we did see an Ohio historical marker on it.
Another local notable was William Boyd. William Boyd made a name for himself as Hopalong Cassidy, the cowboy star who hit the big screen in the 1930s and 40s and television in the 1950s Cambridge has the Hopalong Cassidy Trail, a collection of memorabilia on display at ‘various places in the historic center of Cambridge. It was fun to explore some of the galleries.

Our tummies were craving something sweet, so we headed to Kennedy Bakery. Kennedy’s Bakery has been serving Cambridge since 1925. Family members have been baking for over 80 years. This scratch oven sounds like the perfect place to pick up some baked goods.
Upon entering, I was greeted with a warm smile and the sweet smell of fresh produce. There were many delicious items to choose from. fresh brownies; Pans cakes, cookies, cakes, Donuts Pans I was surrounded by sweets and many other things.
Patty, one of the owners, gave me a private tour. I was surprised how big the oven was. They have vintage stoves and appliances that they have been using since they opened their store. I really enjoyed all the family’s love and dedication to the bakery and their community. It was quite a good experience.

It is clear that this muffin is made with love and fresh ingredients. The tea cookies are so cute! I don’t want to eat But I’m glad I did. It was moist with a sweet dose.
