Best Dog Friendly Restaurants Edinburgh

Best Dog Friendly Restaurants Edinburgh – I am often asked, “Is the Edinburgh dog friendly?” they asked. Edinburgh is a truly dog-friendly city. Traveling often means we rarely have time to explore Scotland’s capital with the baby. It was a long weekend at home, so when an Indian hotel invited us to stay at their boutique hotel in York, we jumped at the chance.

A Georgian townhouse hotel in the heart of the New Town. Shops, restaurants, bars, tourist attractions, parks and more are at the hotel’s doorstep. Within walking distance of Edinburgh train station. The airport tram service also stops outside, so the hotel is an ideal base for exploring Edinburgh.

We stayed in the package “supav”. For £15 a night, your four-legged friend can stay with you on a dog-friendly holiday in Edinburgh. The “Stay Away” package includes healthy food, a dog bed, and general utilities.

Our upstairs room was spacious. A large bed and sitting area, and a small bar (with cozy snacks).

The decor and soft furnishings reflect the theme style – adding a new twist to the classic Georgian interior.

It was a great place to relax and unwind – but we had to explore the city first.

After leaving the hotel, we encounter Georgian architecture in the tall buildings of the old town – the ancient city.

A stroll through our town brought us to Blair Street, near the Cowgate. One of our favorite dog-friendly restaurants in Edinburgh is on Blair Street, so it seemed like the perfect time to stop for dinner.

City Cafe is an American diner serving Edinburgh residents hot dogs, burgers and milkshakes since the 80s.

Interesting antique tables and beehives made from a 1950’s jukebox stand. The songs were great and the food and drinks on the menu were excellent.

I ordered two ice cream floats – cherry cola for me and regular cola for Mr G. As it was Friday, we ordered alcoholic drinks – pina cola and light beer for Mr G. G.

For an entree, I loaded up on the roast beef, sprinkled with cheese and jalapeño. As good as he was, Mr G had the macaroni and cheese and was equally pleased with his choice.

After lunch we wandered down the Royal Mile towards the Temple Mount. The castle is the official seat of Scotland and was once the home of Mary, Queen of Scots.

We walked from Holyrood Old Town to New Calton Cemetery. In the Vatican cemetery, there is an obscene looking glass that was built to deter criminals. Many monuments are decorated with skulls and crosses.

Now it’s time to get to the bottom. The boy curled up in his bed and Mr. G and I sat on our king size bed to watch TV.

The next morning we woke up, rested and prepared for the next day. The sun was shining and we expected to spend the day exploring the city with the boy, but it was first thing in the morning.

I wasn’t sure how good the food would be if the hotel didn’t have a restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised. A variety of breakfast options are offered, including several cooked options and a large selection of continental breakfast options.

We both opted for a cooked breakfast – I chose the ‘Full Edinburgh’ (minus the beans) which was delicious, especially the ants. Mr G had the old king eggs and the rim did not disappoint.

Ultimate Guide: 42 Of London’s Most Dog Friendly Restaurants

Our first stop was St. James’s Quarters, which was near our hotel. The gallery is open to the public in the summer of 2021, replacing its 1960s look. The new gallery has attracted a number of high-end shops and restaurants in east Edinburgh.

The gallery is also dog-friendly, with dog drinking stations and chairs for rent if your four-legged friend is impatient as you shop. Most shops and stores are dog-friendly, and our go-to is British English John Lewis.

Inside, the boy makes a tag for part of the border. It featured accessories, toys and jewelery from the likes of Barbour and Joules.

After browsing, she chose a woolen shirt and blouse from the Barbour range. It was a picture of his face when we took the tank to pay for it.

Not being shopping fans, John Lewis had enough for just one day.

The National Portrait Gallery of Scotland is a few doors down from the Indian Hotel. One of my favorite places in Edinburgh when I was a student, but it’s been a few years since I visited. Staying at the threshold, I had a great opportunity to visit the gallery for a long time.

The porch is not dog friendly, but there is a leafy area next to it, so we waited in line while someone sat in the fall with a boy.

A visit to the National Scottish Portrait Gallery is a must when visiting Edinburgh – not only are there interesting paintings depicting famous Scottish artists over the centuries, but also Robert the Bruce, Mary Queen of Scots, The Heralds, Billy Connolly and others. The gallery also features deadly (and macabre) ghosts such as Edinburgh’s famous killers Burke and Hare.

Heron, Edinburgh’s Newest Fine Dining Restaurant

If watching the masses of Scots isn’t fun enough, the gallery inside is buzzing because it’s so impressive.

Speaking of coffee art, a short hop down Edinburgh’s famous George Street, Burr & Co is a hip coffee shop that welcomes people and food.

Dance, skip and jump away from the hustle and bustle of George Street, we’ve arrived at Prince Green Oasis. We stopped briefly to listen to Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye) in beautiful Italian for a good cause before heading to the west garden to wander through the east garden.

The West Garden has happy memories of my childhood with a children’s park, a beautiful fountain and a flowering cocoa clock. However, the bird appeared to be stuck and we ran out of time. Cocoa, cocoa, that bird took me back to my friendship days.

After leaving Princes Street Gardens, we headed back into the city center into the historic Old Town – my favorite place to be at home.

When we hear the second street of the day, where the high street meets the Lawnmarket and faces the place where the notorious murderer William Burke was hanged for his crimes, the peal flat of footsteps that followed William’s partner in crime. Mvndla responded to King’s testimony and confessed to the crimes he had committed in order to be free.

Edinburgh’s High Street has two unexpected dog attractions, one is the famous Chamber of Darkness and Illusion, and the other is St Aegid’s Cathedral, founded in 1124 by King David I. Despite the gray color of Thanksgiving. The cathedral’s stone-clad Victorian interior is an architectural gem, and the view seems to step back in time.

St Giles has seen much of Edinburgh’s history over the centuries – British invasions, religious upheavals and the Jacobite movement. The eyes of the world turned to St Giles after HRH Elizabeth lay in state for almost four hours.

Outside the Church of Saint Agius, the high street was full of tourists who felt it was a good opportunity to stop for a rest. We walked up Cockburn (pronounced Coburn) Street and up the steps to Meat Market Close (not as scary as it sounds).

We were heading to one of our favorite traditional watering holes in the Old Town – the Jinglin’ Geordie Bar.

Jinglin’ Geordie Bar is Edinburgh’s friendliest bar. George Heriot, jeweler to King James VI. Geriot was so rich that his bags jingled when he walked because they were full of gold.

We found a table inside and ordered drinks. White wine for me and Mr G’s local lager – aaaaaaand relax.

After dinner it was time to eat. We had a board booked at Brougham on the edge of Carnoten Close.
